Lord WINTERBOTTOM

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 182 to 184, all of which are drafting Amendments to improve the wording of Clause 66. Amendment No. 183 adds a subsection to the new Section 10A of the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953 introduced by Clause 66, to make explicit by whom the birth register shall be signed on the re-registration of a birth under any one of the three methods of re-registration set out in the new section; this allows for the simplification of the wording of paragraph (a) of Section 10A, effected by Amendment No. 182. Amendment No. 184 is simply consequential.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendments.—(Lord Winterbottom.)
