§ 3.30 p.m.
§ Lord STRABOLGIMy Lords, I am grateful to my noble and learned friend for explaining the purpose of the Scottish Regulations. We have certainly noted carefully what has been said by the noble and learned Lord, Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone, and my noble friend Lord Janner. Perhaps it would be to the convenience of the noble Lord, Lord Mowbray and Stourton, and of the House if I were to move these Regulations formally. I beg to move.
§ Moved, That the Legal Advice and Assistance (Scotland) (Financial Conditions) (No. 2) Regulations 1975, laid before the House on 24th April, be approved.—(Lord Strabolgi.)
§ The LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, may I say from this side of the Woolsack that I am sorry that through an unusual excess of zeal I was undertaking also the task of my noble friend.
§ Lord HAILSHAM of SAINT MARYLEBONEMy Lords, it is a good thing that the noble and learned Lord is sometimes called the Lord Chancellor of Great Britain.
§ Lord MOWBRAY and STOURTONMy Lords, I should like to thank my noble and learned friend for speaking to these Regulations and for asking the necessary questions on this matter. These two Orders are exactly similar North of the Border as South of it. I should also like to welcome the promotion of the noble Lord, Lord Strabolgi, to Ministerial responsibility North of the Border.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
