HL Deb 05 May 1975 vol 360 cc101-2
Lord HOUGHTON of SOWERBY

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether, on the reconstitution of the Advisory Committee (on experiments on living animals), they will implement the recommendations of the Littlewood Committee (Cmnd. 2641) regarding the powers and duties of the Advisory Committee.

The MINISTER of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Harris of Greenwich)

No, my Lords. My right honourable friend judged that, while there was advantage in extending the membership of the Advisory Committee, its basic function was best left unaltered.

Lord HOUGHTON of SOWERBY

My Lords, is the noble Lord aware that I will contain myself in patience until a week on Wednesday when, in opening a short debate on this matter, I confidently hope for a more favourable reply from him.
