[No. 4]

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 4.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Harris of Greenwich.)

Earl COWLEY

I should just like to say that we on this side are extremely glad that this Bill, after its very chequered career from one Government to another, has at last reached the Statute Book. Since the drafting Amendment moved by the noble Lord. Lord Harris of Greenwich, refers to Section 18(6), and not Section 18(b) as on the Marshalled List, could he possibly give the House some indication when the Government intend to bring this Bill into force?

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

My Lords, I do not think that the Commencement Order will be long delayed, but I would not want to give a precise estimate at this moment. As soon as I am aware of the answer to this question, I will write to the noble Earl and let him know when the Commencement Order will be made. As he pointed out, there was a misprint on the Marshalled List.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
