Lord BRUCE of DONINGTONMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will state the precise legal status, composition, powers and sources of finance of the British Board of Film Censors.
§ Lord WELLS-PESTELLMy Lords, the British Board of Film Censors is an independent body for which Her Majesty's Government have no responsibility. I understand that the Board is composed of a president, a secretary and four examiners, and its expenses are met from the fees paid by those who submit films for examination. It has no statutory powers.
Lord BRUCE of DONINGTONMy Lords, while thanking my noble friend for his reply, may I ask him to take note 2 of the fact that, as there are certain matters sub judice regarding the Board at the present time, I do not propose to ask any further questions? Would my noble friend also take note that I intend to return to the whole question on some convenient future date?
§ Lord WELLS-PESTELLMy Lords, I am much obliged to my noble friend. The answer to his questions is, "Yes", in both cases.
