HL Deb 06 August 1975 vol 363 c1649
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD ELWYN-JONES)

My Lords, this may be an opportune moment, before the House proceeds to the principal business of the day, for me to acquaint your Lordships with the fact that with the Queen's approval I have accepted an invitation to attend as the representative of Her Majesty's Government the Centenary Celebrations of the Supreme Court of Canada to be held in Ottawa on 26th and 27th September. I have also been invited to pay a number of official visits within Canada, and I hope that your Lordships will agree to grant me leave of absence for the week beginning 22nd September.

Several Noble Lords

Hear, hear!

Lord HAILSHAM OF SAINT MARYLEBONE

My Lords, I think the only thing I can say is, "Lucky you!"
