HL Deb 13 May 1974 vol 351 c729
LORD KILMANY

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether it has now been agreed that financial aid will be forthcoming for improvement to Dundee airstrip and when work is expected to begin.

LORD JACQUES

My Lords, the Department of Trade recently received a deputation from the Dundee Corporation to discuss the development of Dundee Aerodrome. A detailed submission from the Corporation is now expected which my right honourable friend the Secretary of State for Trade will consider, together with proposals for financing any development. The Government have no information as to when work on any such development might begin.

LORD KILMANY

My Lords, may I take it from the noble Lord's reply that the principle is agreed that it is a sensible proposal and that what is holding up matters now is merely a financial consideration?

LORD JACQUES

My Lords, I can only say that we await the written submission of the Dundee Corporation. When that is received the arguments will be taken fully into account.
