§ 3.18 p.m.
§ LORD CROOKMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will suggest to the Post Office, for appropriate consideration, the issue of a commemorative stamp 631 on September 27, 1975, to mark the 150th anniversary of the world's first steam passenger railway from Stockton to Darlington on September 27, 1825.
§ LORD STRABOLGIMy Lords, I am advised that this suggestion has already been put to the Post Office and I am sure it will receive careful consideration.
§ LORD MAYBRAY-KINGMy Lords, as a Freeman of Stockton, may I ask the noble Lord whether he is aware that if the proposal of the noble Lord, Lord Crook, is carried out it will give great pleasure to the citizens of Stockton and of Darlington?
§ LORD STRABOLGIMy Lords, I am sure that the Post Office will note that.
