THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, with Amendment No. 9 which I now move, with the leave of the House I beg to move that the House may also consider at the same time Amendments Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 13. Amendment No. 9 is an Amendment which ensures that arrangements for professional indemnity under Clause 10 can cover not only the damages awarded against a negligent solicitor but also other losses arising from the claim; for example, costs incurred by the solicitor in contesting the claim. Amendment No. 10 is an Amendment which makes it abundantly clear that the applications and complaints for which the Tribunal exercises disciplinary powers and jurisdiction are applications and complaints which the 1957 Act authorises to be made.

Amendments Nos. 11, 12 and 13 are drafting Amendments of which I do not think I need to trouble to give your Lordships any detailed explanation unless in any particular case in regard to these and other drafting Amendments your Lordships may seek assistance which I hope I might be able to give.

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 9 to 13 inclusive.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendments.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
