HL Deb 05 February 1974 vol 349 cc746-7

4.26 p.m.

LORD JANNER

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do now resolve itself into Committee on this Bill.

Moved, that the House do now resolve itself into Committee.—(Lord Janner.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.

House in Committee accordingly.

[The LORD ROYLE in the Chair]

Clauses 1 to 5 agreed to.

Clause 6 [Removal of registration in certain cases]:

LORD JANNER

I beg to move the Amendment standing in my name.

Amendment moved— Page 3, line 24, at end insert ("of section 4 of this Act").—(Lord Janner.)

EARL COWLEY

I think it might be helpful to the Committee if I gave the Government's attitude to the noble Lord's proposed Amendment. Since this is purely a drafting Amendment to insert words which appear to have been inadvertently omitted from the print of the Bill, the Government have no objection to the Amendment and feel that it would clarify Clause 6(4) of the Bill.

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Clause 6, as amended, agreed to.

Remaining clauses and Schedule agreed to.

LORD JANNER

May I, before the Committee stage is finished say a word about a misprint? Your Lordships will have noticed in the Schedule to the present print of the Bill, at page 7, line 32, that the Secretary of State is referred to as "Mr." This is a misprint. The correct print should be "the Secretary of State" This printing error will be corrected in the next print of the Bill.

House resumed: Bill reported, with the Amendment.
