My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Leader of the House I beg leave to move the Motion standing in his name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That, in accordance with the recommendation of the Select Committee on the Procedure of the House (1st Report, 1974–75), agreed to by the House on 18th December, the terms of reference of the Select Committee on Leave of Absence ("the general supervision of arrangements relating to leave of absence"), be amended by inserting at the end ("and the reimbursement of Lords' expenses").—Baroness Llewelyn-Davies of Hastoe.)

My Lords, on the subject of leave of absence may I ask the noble Baroness, Lady Llewelyn-Davies, in view of the deteriorating economic position which is, I think, ackno-ledged by both sides of the House here and in another place, whether procedures are in train for the speedy recall of Parliament should the situation deteriorate still further?
