§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time. It is a Consolidation Bill, with a Memorandum containing amendments recommended by the Law Commission under the Consolidation of Enactments (Procedure) Act 1949. The Bill consolidates most of the statutory provisions relating to juries of which the majority are to be found in the Courts Act 1971 and Part II of the Criminal Justice Act 1972. The Bill will be referred to the Joint Committee in the usual way. My Lords, I beg to move.
