HL Deb 22 March 1973 vol 340 cc868-9

3.31 p.m.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, with the leave of the House, at a convenient moment after 3.30 p.m. my noble friend Lord Drumalbyn will be making a Statement on the reorganisation of the nuclear industry. It has been agreed through the usual channels that it would be more appropriate for this House to debate the Northern Ireland White Paper and the Northern Ireland Order on Wednesday, March 28, rather than on Tuesday, March 27. The noble Lord, Lord Bowden, has therefore kindly agreed to postpone his Motion on the effects of the European Commission regulations and directives on United Kingdom professions from next Wednesday until Tuesday, April 10. I should like to take this opportunity of expressing my appreciation for Lord Bowden's co-operation in this matter. The Docks and Harbours (Valuation) (Amendment) Order will be postponed from Wednesday, March 28, until Thursday, March 29.

In the place of the Northern Ireland debate which was down for the Tuesday, March 27, the noble Lord, Lord Maelor, is putting down a Motion calling attention to the Errol Report on the licensing laws. I hope that these arrangements will commend themselves to the House and that noble Lords who were going to take part in these two debates next week will not be unduly inconvenienced by the rearrangements. I have already taken steps to ensure that those noble Lords intending to speak have been, or will be, personally informed of these changes.
