HL Deb 19 July 1973 vol 344 cc1494-5

9.41 p.m.

THE EARL OF LISTOWEL

My Lords, in moving the Motion that stands in my name on the Order Paper I should like to give a very brief explanation. It is the usual form of Motion required to enable a Private Bill to continue its progress through Parliament in the next Session. It was in no way the fault of the Promoters of this Bill that it will not have been through both Houses before the end of this Session. A similar Motion will be moved in another place before the Summer Recess. I beg to move.

Moved,

That the Promoters of the Bill have leave to suspend any further proceedings thereon, in order to proceed with the Bill, if they shall think fit, in the next Session of Parliament, provided that notice of their intention to do so be lodged in the Office of the Clerk of the Parliaments not later than three o'clock on the day before the close of the present Session, and that all fees due thereon up to that period shall have been paid:

That, if the Bill is brought from the Commons in the next Session, the Agent for the Bill shall deposit in the Private Bill Office a declaration, signed by him, stating that the Bill is the same, in every respect, as the Bill which was brought from the Commons in the present Session:

That the proceedings on such Bill shall, in the next Session of Parliament, be pro forma only in regard to every stage through which the same shall have passed in the present Session and that no new fees be charged in regard to such stages:

That the Standing Orders by which the proceedings on Bills are regulated shall not apply, in the next Session of Parliament, to such Bill in regard to any of the stages through which the same shall have passed during the present Session.—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
