HL Deb 17 December 1973 vol 348 cc79-80

5.37 p.m.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, may I make a statement on the business for to-morrow and Wednesday? It has been agreed through the usual channels that to-morrow's economic debate should be extended to Wednesday as well. In order to do this it has been agreed that the Northern Ireland Orders and the Northern Ireland Constitution (Amendment) Bill and an Order Confirmation Bill should be taken formally at the beginning of business. There will, however, be an opportunity for a debate on Northern Ireland affairs on a "Take-note" Motion immediately following the conclusion of the economic debate on Wednesday.

BARONESS PHILLIPS

My Lords, I should like to express our thanks to the noble Earl the Chief Whip for his great courtesy and helpfulness in dealing with what is a very serious situation. On this side we will do our best to see that the debate follows the customary lines.
