§ THE LORD CHANCELLORMy Lords, I rise to move that this Bill be now read a second time. Your Lordships will be relieved to know that it is purely a Consolidation Bill. It consolidates the Contracts of Employment Act 1963 and the relevant provisions of the Redundancy Payments Act 1965 and the Industrial Relations Act 1971. The Bill will be examined by the Joint Committee in the usual way. I beg to move.
