HL Deb 13 June 1972 vol 331 cc687-8

THE MINISTER OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL SECURITY (LORD ABERDARE) rose to move That Standing Order No. 44 be dispensed with for the purpose of allowing the Matrimonial Proceedings (Polygamous Marriages) Bill to be taken through its remaining stages on Thursday next. The noble Lord said: My Lords, perhaps I may briefly explain the reason for this Motion. It is intended in Committee on this Bill on Thursday to introduce an Amendment to extend its provisions to Northern Ireland. If your Lordships accept this Amendment then, because of the procedures in another place, the Bill will have to be returned to another place by Thursday evening. As your Lordships have already considered the Bill once, you may be willing to accept the Motion.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
