HL Deb 07 August 1972 vol 334 c851

[No. 16]

Clause 21, page 17, line 15, after "power" insert "to manage, maintain and improve the land and".

EARL FERRERS

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 16. This subsection as originally drafted enabled the Secretary of State to provide facilities such as laboratories, glasshouses and office accommodation at Logan and any other gardens which might be required. It was, however, defective in that it did not empower the Secretary of State to spend public funds on the day-to-day work in maintaining, managing and improving land. That defect has been repaired by this Amendment. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Earl Ferrers.)
