§ LORD POLWARTHMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 43 to 50. These are further repeals of legislation relating to the National Health Service (Scotland) Acts 1947 to 1968 and to other enactments.
§ Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendments.—(Lord Polwarth.)
§ LORD HOYMy Lords, I will not detain your Lordships' House, except for one point. I understand that the effect of these Amendments is to cancel a repeal which was originally proposed. The Government is making a great habit of this. Indeed, we have had numerous instances of it and I was a little sorry to see that it has been repeated here. We have already had one example today, and we are about to finish the night with one more. All I would say is that we are grateful that it was noticed in time and that it was drawn to our attention by the noble Lord.
§ LORD POLWARTHMy Lords, this particular repeal was cancelled during the passage of the Bill at the request of the Mental Welfare Commission. It is a provision which they desired to retain, and it was agreed that they should.
