HL Deb 27 May 1971 vol 319 c1291

EARL ST. ALDWYN rose to move, That the Amendments to Standing Order 48 and Standing Order 50, agreed on May 12, last, be continued in force until the end of the present Session. The noble Earl said: My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend the Leader of the House, I beg to move the first Motion standing in his name on the Order Paper. The Sixth Report of the Procedure Committee, to which your Lordships have just agreed, recommends that the new procedure for taking Divisions should be continued for a further experimental period until the end of the Session. I think that this is a wise course to follow because, although the new procedure appears to be functioning well, I think we should all like a little longer in which to make up our minds about it. I hope that the House will agree to this Motion. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Amendments to Standing Order 48 and Standing Order 50, agreed on May 12 last, be continued in force until the end of the present Session.—(Earl St. Aldwyn.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
