HL Deb 20 May 1971 vol 319 c517

3.6 p.m.

LORD FERRIER

My Lords, with the leave of the House, may I make a personal Statement? On Tuesday evening last, when I was in the Chair in Committee on the Industrial Relations Bill, I regret that on Clause 42 I put the Question in the wrong form. On Division No. 3 which took place at 7.10 p.m. (Hansard, columns 297-8) I put the Question: " That Clause 43 stand part of the Bill." I ought to have put the Question: " That Clause 42, as amended, stand part of the Bill." This was, as I now see, the Question which the Committee had to decide and which should have been put. I much regret my mistake, for which I apologise to the House, and hope that this personal explanation will serve to set the Record straight.
