THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (EARL JELLICOE)

My Lords, I have it in command from Her Majesty the Queen to deliver to your Lordships a Message, signed with her own hand.

Her Majesty's Message was then read by The LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD HA ILSHAM OF ST. MARYLEBONE) as follows:

" Her Majesty, being desirous that the provision made by Parliament in the first year of her Reign for His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and other Members of her Family, and the provision made in the first year of her Father's Reign for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and for His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester, should be improved, and that provision should now be made for Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Gloucester and any future wife of a younger son of Her Majesty in the event of any of them surviving her husband, relies on the attachment of the House of Lords to her Person and Family to concur in the adoption of such measures as may be suitable to the occasion. "
