HL Deb 16 July 1971 vol 322 cc626-7

11.7 a.m.

LORD FRASER OF LONSDALE: My Lords, I beg leave to ask the second Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government, with reference to paragraph 4.9 of the Green Paper on Value Added Tax (Cmnd. 4621), wherein suggestions are made for helping charities with regard to V.A.T., whether they will consult the charities concerned with a view to giving them relief in relation to articles used for raising money and the distribution of free or subsidised aids, such as for example, wireless sets, braille machines, etc.]

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (EARL JELLICOE)

My Lords, Her Majesty's Government would be very willing to receive from individual charities, or groups of charities, any representations which they wish to make, as part of the general process of consultation with interested parties initiated by the Green Paper on Value Added Tax. Such representations will be carefully considered before any decisions are made.

LORD FRASER OF LONSDALE

My Lords, I thank the noble Earl.
