HL Deb 06 December 1971 vol 326 cc671-2

7.12 p.m.

EARL FERRERS rose to move, That the Draft Iron and Steel (Compensation to Employees) (Amendment) Regulations 1971 laid before the House on November 23, be approved The noble Earl said: My Lords, these Regulations are quite short and, I would suggest, entirely uncontroversial. Their main effect is to require the British Steel Corporation to pay compensation to any person listed ill the 1968 Regulations who suffers loss or dissolution of emoluments or pension rights as the result of the making of a vesting or dissolution Order under Section 8 of the Iron and Steel Act 1969. This part of the Regulations will take effect retrospectively from March 29, 1970,

On Question, Whether the Bill shall be now read 2a?

Their Lordship divided: Contents, 23; Not-Contents, 23.
