HL Deb 26 April 1971 vol 317 c916

2.51 p.m.

EARL ST. ALDWYN rose to move, That Standing Order No. 36(5) be dispensed with for the purpose of enabling the Motion for an humble Address on the Ministry of Aviation Supply (Dissolution) Order to be taken before the Motion standing in the name of the Lord Aldington on Wednesday, April 28.

The noble Earl said: My Lords, I beg to move the first Motion standing in the name of my noble friend the Leader of the House. It had been agreed that on Wednesday, April 28, it would be for the convenience of the House that the Order dissolving the Ministry of Aviation Supply should be taken, as briefly as possible before the Motion of the noble Lord, Lord Aldington. Your Lordships will have noted that my noble friend Lord Carrington had a Motion down for debate on Wednesday, May 12, dealing with the Rayner Report, and the House will there-for have an opportunity of discussing very fully the reasons why it is proposed to dissolve the Ministry of Aviation Supply. In the circumstances, I hope your Lordships will agree to the Motion I am now moving. I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 36 (5) be dispensed with for the purpose of enabling the Motion for an humble Address on the Ministry of Aviation Supply (Dissolution) Order to be taken before the Motion standing in the name of the Lord Aldington on Wednesday, April 28.—(Earl St. Aldwyn.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
