EARL JELLICOEMy Lords, in rising to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper, I should first like to apologise to your Lordships for the shortness of notice given. However, I do not imagine that on this occasion your Lordships will take me too severely to task. If the Motion is accepted by the House to-day, as a somewhat similar Motion was accepted in another place yesterday, it means that the increase in the car mileage allowance will apply from the same date in both Houses. My Lords, I beg to move.
§ Moved, That this House approves, with effect from the date of this Resolution, the proposal to replace the existing limit upon car mileage allowance available to members of this House under the Resolution of 18th December, 1969, by a limit of 1s. per mile.—(Earl Jellicoe.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
