HL Deb 23 July 1970 vol 311 c1082

3.35 p.m.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, I am afraid it is not yet possible to make these Statements. Perhaps I might take this opportunity of informing your Lordships that a Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of the Right Honourable Iain Macleod will be held in Westminster Abbey on Thursday next, July 30, at 12.15 p.m. No tickets are being issued, but seats will be reserved in the South Transept entrance, by Poets' Corner, for Members of the House of Lords and their Ladies wishing to attend.

I am afraid we are faced with the problem of adjourning during pleasure once again until we can get the Statements.

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I wonder if I may suggest to the noble Earl that we might make a more realistic assessment of the situation. I suggest that we should adjourn until four o'clock rather than come back again in a few minutes and find that the Statements are still not ready.

EARL ST. ALDWYN

My Lords, I shall be happy to fall in with the noble Lord's suggestion. I beg to move that the House do adjourn during pleasure until four o'clock.

House adjourned during pleasure.

House resumed.
