HL Deb 23 July 1970 vol 311 c1065
LORD SILKIN

My Lords, may I, with permission, say a few words about the Question standing on the Order Paper in my name?—namely,

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether, in the light of the strong opinions held by those concerned with education on Government intentions regarding primary schools, they will reconsider their declared policy on comprehensive schools.

I had intended that this should be an Unstarred Question, and I had prepared a very powerful speech in support of it. It now appears on the Paper as a Starred Question, and therefore I should like to withdraw it and put it down again for October 29. That will give the noble Lord, Lord Belstead, I think it is, ample time to consider his reply.
