HL Deb 15 July 1970 vol 311 c599

3.3 p.m.

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF LISTOWEL)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. The reason for this Motion is as follows. Standing Order 147 provides that a Private Bill as amended in Committee should be deposited with the Government Departments concerned not less than three clear days before it is read a third time. Owing to the Dissolution of Parliament the prescribed period of three days has to be shortened if the Bill is to receive the Royal Assent before the Recess. No Government Department has objected to the period of deposit being cut down by two days. I would therefore ask the House to agree to dispense with the Standing Order so that this Bill may receive the Royal Assent before the Recess.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 147 (Bill as amended in Committee to be deposited at Public Departments) be considered in order to its being dispensed with in respect of the Bill.—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
