§ VISCOUNT MASSEREENE AND FERRARDMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ [The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government what was the annual turnover of management in the British Steel Corporation in the years 1967, 1968 and 1969 respectively.]
§ THE MINISTER OF STATE, MINISTRY OF TECHNOLOGY (LORD DELACOURT-SMITH)My Lords, as this is a matter for the Corporation in the day-to-day conduct of their affairs, I have asked the Chairman to write to the noble Lord.
§ VISCOUNT MASSEREENE AND FERRARDMy Lords, I thank the noble Lord for that Answer. Is he aware that I am rather disappointed? I cannot say that I am disappointed in the Answer, but I was hoping that the noble Lord might be a bit more forthcoming.
§ LORD DELACOURT-SMITHMy Lords, I am extremely sorry to disappoint the noble Viscount, as I should be to disappoint any Member of your Lord-ships' House, but I do not think that I can add to my reply.
