HL Deb 08 April 1970 vol 309 c145
LORD AMULREE

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government when the Waterhouse Committee on Rabies will report.]

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, the Committee of Inquiry held their first meeting yesterday. The Committee are aware of the urgency of their inquiry, but I cannot at this stage say when they will be able to report.

LORD AMULREE

My Lords, I quite understand what the noble Lord means by that, but I wonder whether it would be possible for the Committee to bring out an Interim Report, which would alleviate certain anxieties among people who keep kennels and to whom this matter is so important.

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I under-stand the point of view of the noble Lord. But he will also appreciate that, until the Committee have seen the ground they have to cover, it will be impossible for them to come to a conclusion as to whether or not an Interim Report would be possible.
