HL Deb 21 October 1969 vol 304 c1691

[No. 6]

After Clause 13, insert the following new clause—

Certain provisions of Part II of Act of 1954 set out as amended

". Sections 24, 27, 30, 32, 34, 37, 38, 42 and 44 of the Act of 1954 and Schedule 6 to that Act, and section 43 (3) of that Act as it applies to tenancies granted after the commencement of this Act, are set out as amended by this Part of this Act in Schedule (Certain provisions of Part II of Act of 1954 set out as amended) to this Act."

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, in moving Amendment No. 6 I should like with your Lordships' permission, to discuss Amendment No. 22 as well. These Amendments are to implement my undertaking during the Report stage in your Lordships' House that the Bill would contain a Keeling Schedule; that is to say, a Schedule reproducing sections of the 1954 Act amended by the Bill. This undertaking was repeated by my right honourable friend the Solicitor General in the Second Reading Committee.

The new clause lists the provisions which are set out as amended in the new Schedule. They cover all the sections covered by Part I of the Bill, with two very minor exceptions where reproduction of the Schedule would not be reasonable. Amendment No. 22 is the Schedule. Your Lordships may remember that the noble and learned Viscount, Lord Colville of Culross, was particularly anxious that this should be done, and I hope I can fairly say that at the time I myself was not less anxious. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 6.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 6.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

LORD BELSTEAD

My Lords, I think my noble and learned friend Lord Colville of Culross has sent his apologies to the noble and learned Lord for his absence. However, he was particularly anxious that this should be repeated openly in your Lordships' House and that thanks should be given to the noble and learned Lord, the Lord Chancellor, for this new Schedule.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
