HL Deb 20 November 1969 vol 305 cc1069-70

3.28 p.m.

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF LISTOWEL)

My Lords, in moving the first Motion that stands in my name on the Order Paper, I think I should say a very few words to explain why I am asking your Lordships to agree to it. To permit this Bill to be deposited on November 27, as laid down in our Standing Orders, a representation has been made to the Secretary of State for Scotland. This representation was in fact made two days late. In order to allow the Bill to be deposited in time, I am now asking the House to dispense with the provisions of Standing Order No. 193. I would add that a similiar Motion was agreed to last Tuesday in another place. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That Private Bill Standing Order No. 193 [Deposit of Bill under section 1(4) of the Private Legislation Procedure (Scotland) Act 1936] be considered in order to its being dispensed with to allow the Bill to be deposited on or before the 27th November—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question. Motion agreed to.
