BARONESS SUMMERSKILL

My Lords, could I ask my noble friend the Chief Whip whether he proposes to repeat a Statement made in another place yesterday regarding a rather harsh and stupid decision?

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, without commenting on the latter part of my noble friend's question, the answer to the first part is, No, my Lords.

BARONESS SUMMERSKILL

My Lords, could I ask my noble friend what rule it is that determines what should be repeated in this House?

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I am not sure about a rule. The custom is that we repeat in this House simultaneously Statements made in another place. That is for the general convenience of your Lordships' House. I understand my noble friend's interest in this matter, and if she wishes to pursue it there are of course other possibilities open to her.
