§ 2.34 p.m.
§ BARONESS SUMMERSKILLMy Lords, could I ask my noble friend the Chief Whip whether he proposes to repeat a Statement made in another place yesterday regarding a rather harsh and stupid decision?
§ LORD BESWICKMy Lords, without commenting on the latter part of my noble friend's question, the answer to the first part is, No, my Lords.
§ BARONESS SUMMERSKILLMy Lords, could I ask my noble friend what rule it is that determines what should be repeated in this House?
§ LORD BESWICKMy Lords, I am not sure about a rule. The custom is that we repeat in this House simultaneously Statements made in another place. That is for the general convenience of your Lordships' House. I understand my noble friend's interest in this matter, and if she wishes to pursue it there are of course other possibilities open to her.
