HL Deb 09 July 1969 vol 303 cc1055-6

2.49 p.m.

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in the name of my noble friend the Leader of the House.

Moved, That the membership of the Committee be increased from twelve to fourteen, and that the Earl of Selkirk aria the Lord Hughes be added to the Committee.—(Lord Beswick.)

THE EARL OF SELKIRK

My Lords, before the Motion is agreed to, may I say that while I am most honoured to serve on this Committee, I regret that I shall not be able to attend on Tuesday of next week. I shall be able to be there on Monday and Wednesday, but not Tuesday. If any other noble Lord is able to be there the whole time, I feel that that might be an advantage.

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I have no doubt that that invitation has been heard by other noble Lords in the House. As was made clear by my noble friend when the original Motion was put before the House, it is, of course, open to any noble Lord who wishes to do so to attend at the meetings of this Committee.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
