HL Deb 27 February 1969 vol 299 c1203
THE LORD BISHOP OF BIRMINGHAM

My Lords, the most reverend Primate, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who introduced this Bill and who has been responsible for it throughout its stages in this House, has asked me to express his apologies for being unable to move the Third Reading. Over a year ago he arranged to visit the Anglican dioceses in the West Indies at this time, and he had to leave to carry out this assignment after the Report stage of the Bill last week. The Archbishop has asked me to say how grateful he has been for the co-operation from all quarters of the House and to those who have spoken on behalf of the various Churches. I therefore move that the Bill be now read a third time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 3ª.—(The Lord Bishop of Birmingham.)

On Question, Bill read 3ª, and passed, and sent to the Commons.
