HL Deb 28 November 1968 vol 297 c1303
LORD BESWICK

My Lords, at a convenient moment after 3.30 p.m. my noble friend Lord Winterbottom will be repeating a Statement on the Territoral Army Volunteer Reserve.

VISCOUNT GOSCHEN

My Lords, may I ask the noble Lord, the Captain of the Gentlemen at Arms, whether he is in a position to make a statement to the House about contemplated arrangements for an economic debate in the near future?

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, I am much obliged to the noble Lord. As he and the House will know, there is a Bill now before the other place, the Customs (Imports Deposits) Bill, which will come before your Lordships' House. On the assumption that we receive this Bill by next Thursday, December 5, I hope, with arrangements through the usual channels, that it will be possible to take the Bill, a Supply Bill, through all stages on that day. In that case I hope that it will be for the convenience of your Lordships' House if we have a full economic debate on the Second Reading of this Bill.

VISCOUNT GOSCHEN

My Lords, I thank the noble Lord for his answer. Those arrangements will be readily accepted by this side of the House.
