HL Deb 20 November 1968 vol 297 c1028

11.56 p.m.

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, I beg to move approval of this Order and, if I may, I will speak to the other two which are on the Order Paper. The purpose of these three Orders is to give practical effect to the provisions of the International Organisations Act 1968, which I had the honour to present to your Lordships' House some months ago. The most important purpose of that Act is to enable the United Kingdom to act as a proper host to international organisations and to offer conditions comparable to those which other countries are prepared to offer. My Lords, these Orders have been approved by another place. They were warmly received there, and I hope, therefore, that the House will also approve them.

Moved, That the Draft International Wheat Council (Immunities and Privileges) Order 1968, laid before the House on October 30, last be approved.—(Lord Shepherd.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
