HL Deb 31 July 1968 vol 296 cc309-10
VISCOUNT ADDISON

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what additional bus services are to be provided before their agreement to the closing of the railway line connecting Edinburgh, Galashiels and Carlisle to passenger traffic, is implemented.]

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS (LORD SHEPHERD)

My Lords, these services are listed in Part 2 of the Annex to the letter to the Chief Secretary of the British Railways Board conveying my right honourable friend's consent to the with-drawal of rail passenger services from the Edinburgh-Hawick-Carlisle line. As the list is a rather long one, I will, with permission, arrange for it to be circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT.
