§ LORD BESWICKMy Lords, it will be seen that an unprecedented number of Peers have put down their names to speak in the debate to-day and to-morrow. This number poses certain obvious problems, not least for those who serve us in and around this House. It is proposed that this evening we should adjourn for half an hour, between 7.30 and 8 p.m., and dinner will be available from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m.
My noble friend Lord Chalfont will be dealing this evening with matters especially related to foreign policy and defence, and because it was considered that it would be helpful to those who will be taking part in the debate to-morrow that his words should be available in Hansard in the morning (and conceivably the Report of the latter part of to-day's 132 debate will not be published until later), he will be intervening between 9 and 9.30 p.m. It will be possible for the Government spokesman opening tomorrow to deal with points raised after my noble friend's intervention. It is hoped that the Division to-morrow will take place at a convenient hour, and the House will meet at 2 p.m. Dinner will be available.
