HL Deb 14 February 1968 vol 289 c98
LORD MACPHERSON OF DRUMOCHTER

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what progress has been made since their promises of July 13, 1966, and January 17, 1967, to consider sympathetically the question of treatment and after-care of young people suffering simultaneously from both physical and mental disabilities.]

LORD KENNET

My Lords, during the past year discussions have taken place with specialists in the field in which the noble Lord is interested, and the Ministry of Health intends to convene a conference of doctors to consider the services now available to patients suffering in this way as a result of an accident and what developments in their services are needed. Meanwhile a survey of patients aged 15 to 59 receiving long-term care in non-psychiatric hospitals has been carried out, including those with brain damage due to injury. The results of this survey are now being studied.

LORD MACPHERSON OF DRUMOCHTER

My Lords, I should like to thank the Minister for his most satisfactory reply.
