HL Deb 23 April 1968 vol 291 c470
LORD BESWICK

My Lords, my noble friend the Leader of the House will be making a Statement on European Space Policy at a convenient moment after 3.30 this afternoon. We have a considerable amount of business to get through to-day, and dinner will be served from 7 to 8.30 this evening, though it is not intended to adjourn the House It is intended to take the Report stage of the Social Work (Scotland) Bill until 6.30 p.m. this evening, and then to start the Second Reading of the Health Services and Public Health Bill.

LORD DRUMALBYN

My Lords, may I ask the noble Lord whether, in the event that the Report stage of the Social Work (Scotland) Bill is not completed by 6.30, it is his intention to go on after the Health Services and Public Health Bill?

LORD BESWICK

My Lords, yes. I know that the noble Lord and his friends are anxious to be helpful about this, but I thought we would make a final decision when we see what progress has been made. If we find that only a matter of ten minutes or a quarter of an hour is required after 6.30, then we shall take that time, but otherwise it may be for the general convenience of the House if we continue the Social Work (Scotland) Bill after the Second Reading of the Health Services and Public Health Bill.
