HL Deb 02 April 1968 vol 290 c1196

3.25 p.m.

BARONESS PHILLIPS

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a third time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 3a.—(Baroness Phillips.)

On Question, Bill read 3a.

Clause 6 [Short title, citation, construction and extent]:

BARONESS PHILLIPS

My Lords, this Amendment corrects the provision in Clause 6(1) for the collective citation of the Education Acts. The subsection is drafted in terms which assume that the other Education Bill before Parliament, namely, the Bill dealing with the government of colleges, will receive the Royal Assent first. In the event, this Bill has been the first to pass through both Houses. I beg to move.

Amendment moved— Page 5, line 30, leave out from ("and") to end of line, and insert ("this Act and the Education Acts 1944 to 1967 may be cited together").—(Baroness Phillips.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Bill passed, and returned to the Commons.
