HL Deb 12 July 1967 vol 284 cc1133-4
LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, I shall be making a Statement on the 70 m.p.h. speed limit shortly after 3 p.m. Later in the day we shall again be in Committee on the Leasehold Reform Bill, on which, it seems to me, there are something like two and a half to three hours' work to do. I would suggest that we do not adjourn for dinner to-night, for this would mean that we could get up a little earlier than last night; but dinner will certainly be available in the dining room.

LORD BROOKE OF CUMNOR

My Lords, I did not know about this estimate of time. What the noble Lord proposes is quite acceptable if we are making good progress; but if it is clear that we are going to sit very late, then I should have thought it would be better to have an actual adjournment for dinner.

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, I will respond to any suggestion that the noble Lord cares to make. I have tried a little crystal-gazing to see how best we may arrange our programme for the convenience of noble Lords. If it appears that we are going on a little longer than I estimated, then I will certainly agree to an adjournment.
