HL Deb 18 October 1966 vol 277 c2
LORD RUSSELL OF LIVERPOOL

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government what were the reasons for the decision not to send a representative of the Government or the Armed Forces to the funeral service of General Bor-Komorowski who, as Polish C.-in-C., directed the Warsaw uprising.]

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE ROYAL AIR FORCE (LORD SHACKLETON)

My Lords, Her Majesty's Government honour the memory of General Bor-Komorowski's distinguished service to the Allies. Official attendance at a privately arranged funeral is not customary, but at the memorial service for General Bor-Komorowski on October 20 the Ministry of Defence and the British Armed Forces will be represented by Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir John Slessor and other officers.

LORD RUSSELL OF LIVERPOOL

My Lords, I thank the noble Lord for that Answer to my Question.
