§ LORD RUSSELL OF LIVERPOOLMy Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.
§ [The Question was as follows:
§ To ask Her Majesty's Government what were the reasons for the decision not to send a representative of the Government or the Armed Forces to the funeral service of General Bor-Komorowski who, as Polish C.-in-C., directed the Warsaw uprising.]
§ THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE ROYAL AIR FORCE (LORD SHACKLETON)My Lords, Her Majesty's Government honour the memory of General Bor-Komorowski's distinguished service to the Allies. Official attendance at a privately arranged funeral is not customary, but at the memorial service for General Bor-Komorowski on October 20 the Ministry of Defence and the British Armed Forces will be represented by Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir John Slessor and other officers.
§ LORD RUSSELL OF LIVERPOOLMy Lords, I thank the noble Lord for that Answer to my Question.
