HL Deb 17 November 1966 vol 277 c1349

3.18 p.m.

Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Third Report from the Committee.

The Committee's Report was as follows:

ORDER OF BUSINESS—UNSTARRED QUESTIONS

The Committee have considered the provisions of Standing Order 35 whereby Unstarred Questions have the same precedence on the Order Paper as ordinary Motions. This can be inconvenient for the House as, for example, if an Unstarred Question is put down on the Order Paper after a Motion and the Motion is then withdrawn, the Unstarred Question takes precedence over a new Motion which is subsequently put down for the same day. The Committee therefore recommend that Standing Order No. 35 be amended, so that Motions will take precedence over Unstarred Questions, as follows:—

In Standing Order No. 35, add at the end a new paragraph—

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF LISTOWEL)

My Lords, I beg to move that this Report be now considered.

Moved accordingly, and, on Question, Motion agreed to.

THE EARL OF LISTOWEL

My Lords, I beg to move that this Report be now agreed to.

Moved, That the Report be now agreed to.—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
