§ What sums have been expended in refitting, converting and modernising aircraft carriers during the last ten years.
§ THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE ROYAL AIR FORCE (LORD SHACKLETON)Since 1st April, 1956, the refitting and docking of aircraft carriers has cost £39 million, their conversion to other rÔles £16 million and their modernisations £41 million. The figures for conversions and modernisations include the cost of the refits which took place concurrently.
