HL Deb 27 July 1966 vol 276 c885
LORD CHAMPION

My Lords, perhaps the House will permit me to intervene to make a Business statement. Having regard to the fact that fifty noble Lords have indicated their intention of participating in the economic debate, it has been decided after the usual consultations to split the debate into two parts, the first part to be taken on the Motion to-morrow and the second part on Monday. The Finance Bill will then be taken formally through all its stages at the end of the debate on Monday.

LORD HAWKE

My Lords, is the noble Lord aware that, during the thirteen years of Conservative Government, it was never found necessary for fifty noble Lords to speak on the economic situation?
