HL Deb 13 December 1966 vol 278 c1546

2.43 p.m.

LORD FERRIER

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the second Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether, in the light of the intention to proceed shortly with the reconstruction of the Edinburgh Airport buildings at Turn house, the location and design of the same will be related to the second runway development which is promised at some distant date.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, BOARD OF TRADE (LORD RHODES)

My Lords, the answer is, Yes. A final decision on the site must await the result of the runway survey which is now being carried out.

LORD FERRIER

My Lords, I thank the noble Lord for his Answer. I assume from that that the final alignment of the runway has not been settled. Is that the case?

LORD RHODES

My Lords, it has not yet been settled. The result of the survey will be published in February of next year.

LORD FERRIER

I thank the noble Lord. Then I await with great interest the Answer to the Question of the noble Earl which is to come later this afternoon.
