HL Deb 27 May 1965 vol 266 cc953-4
LORD OGMORE

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether any operational responsibilities have been assumed by the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) up to the present date.]

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE FOR THE ROYAL AIR FORCE (LORD SHACKLETON)

My Lords, operational responsibilities were assumed by the Eurocontrol Organisation in the United Kingdom Upper Airspace on March 1, 1964, and are carried out in the manner outlined in my reply to the noble Lord on May 17. Similar responsibilities were simultaneously assumed in other Member States, and these are carried out under corresponding arrangements suited to the various national circumstances.

LORD OGMORE

My Lords, while being moderately grateful for that Answer, may I ask the noble Lord whether we can soon expect to get the Annual Report of this organisation for 1964, and, if so, whether it will be placed in the Library?

LORD SHACKLETON

My Lords, that really is another question, but since the noble Lord got the 1963 Report only a week ago I cannot offer much hope that he will get the 1964 Report in the near future. However, I think that it will arrive rather sooner than the last one.
